Dental Exams

When coming in for a routine checkup, your overall oral hygiene and health will be evaluated during a comprehensive examination of your teeth, gums and oral tissues. If gingivitis, tooth damage or tooth decay has arisen since your last visit, Dr. Hutto can find these problems and recommend an appropriate treatment plan for you. Regular dental exams are an important part of preventative oral health care.

The dental examination is used to evaluate your risk of tooth and root decay as well as assessing the risk of gum or bone disease. Should a tooth replacement or restoration be needed, this will again be discovered during your routine exam. Checking on the mouth’s functionality is also part of the exam, ensuring you have no bite or jaw problems.

A routine cleaning will take place during your dental exam, removing any stains and tartar build-up on your teeth, helping to maintain your smile. In some cases, dental x-rays will be needed to ascertain the full cause of any discomfort you may have felt since your last visit to the office, or to detect any problems early - when they’re most treatable.
